Glimble partnered with Label A to transform their online presence from an informational platform to a transactional eco-system. This comprehensive project included the development of a new webshop, the overhaul of their existing website, and the creation of a dedicated version of that webshop specifically for the Italian market. By integrating these components with Glimble's existing app, we aimed to provide a seamless user experience across multiple platforms.
Glimble's primary objective was to shift from being an informational website to becoming a fully transactional platform. This meant developing a scalable and flexible architecture capable of handling future growth and integrating smoothly with their existing app. They wanted a user-friendly, multilingual platform catering to both consumers and business customers, while also ensuring the content could be managed easily and efficiently.
The project was not without its challenges. One of the main obstacles was making all the various technologies—both custom and off-the-shelf—work together in a cohesive ecosystem. Another significant challenge was implementing a single sign-on (SSO) feature that would allow users to log in seamlessly across the webshop and app, providing a unified user experience. Additionally, we needed to ensure compliance with GDPR and accessibility standards, and develop a system flexible enough to adapt to future needs.
To address these challenges, we took a multi-faceted approach. Initially, we selected Shopify for the webshop due to its robust template options and ability to integrate well with Contentful and Buckaroo, Glimble's chosen payment processor. However, we soon discovered that Shopify's enterprise tier was not suitable for Glimble's technical requirements. After an extensive evaluation process of other e-commerce providers, we found that Swell perfectly matched Glimble's needs in terms of both price and functionality. Additionally, we integrated Buckaroo with Swell ourselves, as there was no existing integration. But also a custom check-out which matched the specific needs of selling digital products. We worked closely with Glimble to understand both their requirements and those of their customers, designing a solution that met all expectations. This collaborative approach ensured that we developed a stable foundation for the webshop and future website, enabling quick and smooth updates. By integrating these systems with the voucher system through Moovit's API, we ensured a seamless user experience. Furthermore, we incorporated deeplinks to the existing Glimble app, ensuring users felt like they were navigating a unified platform. Preparations for iDIN verification were also made to facilitate future payment methods such as SEPA direct debit. Throughout the project, rigorous testing and adherence to best practices were paramount. Our development process included working in multiple staging environments to ensure quality and reliability. We also implemented GA4 for analytics, considering server-side and client-side implementations to track user journeys accurately.
The results of the project were significant and impactful. Glimble now has a flexible CMS that allows them to experiment with various conversion drivers and iterate quickly on smaller products. The seamless integration between the webshop and the existing app has enhanced the overall user experience, making it feel like users are staying within the same ecosystem. The multilingual support provided by Contentful ensures that Glimble can easily manage and publish content across different regions, preparing them for future expansion. Compliance with GDPR and accessibility standards was achieved, creating a safe and inclusive platform for all users.
